L’s in my life

I’ve come to think about the things that matter most to me in life; what excites me in love and what I’ve learned… what I long for.

And then it stroked me: all these thoughts have one thing in common, they all start with the letter L. So here are the L’s in my life:

Life: I am a strong believer that not just the moments that take your breath away are the ones worth living for. But all those seconds accumulated, when you’re inhaling with so much wisdom that you’re actually grateful you’ve learned how to breathe; all those moments when you keep your breath, preparing for something terrifying but exciting. When you’re prepared to take a risk. Life is all those moments when you exhale shivering, because you finally finished an important task. When you’re happy or when you’re sobbing over spilled milk. Life, for me, isn’t just what happens when you’re busy making other plans…But what enchants your every single day making it the bees knees…

Learn: Well, albeit I give credit to school and university studies for a great deal of what I’ve learned, I must offer the same gratitude to my books, my friends, my family…For every day I try to learn something new, whether it’s about the new CAP reform, racism in the 1960s in America, how to make 50s curls with a straightening iron or how to be a better self.  I have a strong belief that one learns better out of mistakes than out of carefulness.

Lust: I believe in passion. I believe that someone who avoids it dies a little every day. That who prefers to set things straight instead of letting themselves in a tornado of feelings, exactly those ones which make your eyes sparkle, which transform your sigh into a laugh, wastes every single day. I believe in longing for a touch and then living every exciting moment when it happens. I believe one can lust after one another. I don’t believe in love at first sight, but after the perfect touch. I think sinning was made while quivering under pleasure, in order to offer us the possibility of redemption.

I agree with Cummings on this one:

“since feeling is first

who pays any attention

to the syntax of things

will never wholly kiss you; for life’s not a paragraph (…) “

So let’s feel for lust…

Love: Personally I love love. I have a history of making rapid decisions about men, I realize I love straightforward and I do not believe in pasts or futures. I love the complexities of someone and I enjoy their flaws. I believe that the cacophony of two individuals can create something incredible and unforgettable.

Laugh:  And last, but not least…I believe in the power of laugh. I believe in smiling back. I believe in smiling in the middle of a kiss, while eating a doughnut, while speaking on the phone, while drinking my coffee…so, basically in every aspect of my life.

So these are my L’s that make me enjoy every day. What are yours?

Yours only,

S.C. xoxo
